Data Integrity Verification

We match your project to pros who can bid on it. Those pros fall into three groups, and what we know about each one is different. This page explains exactly what we checked, what a check does and does not prove, and where our screening stops.

In-network partners (Tier 1)

Contracted pros with active accounts. Before an account is switched on, someone on our team opens the state business registry record where our automated check reaches and reads the certificate of insurance line by line, taking the carrier, the coverage amount, and the expiration date straight off the certificate. Your request goes to this group first.

Listed pros (Tier 2)

Every contractor in our directory goes through an automated screening pass. Three things happen:

  • State business registry cross-check: we look the business up in the official state business registry and read back the registration number and standing. This runs in the states where we have that automation, not everywhere we list pros.
  • Website evidence scan: we read the contractor's own website for credential claims. This is weaker evidence, because it is the contractor describing themselves, so it earns a lower-confidence badge kept visually separate from a confirmed state record.
  • Public business signals: BBB records, Google reviews, and years in business.

What a registry match proves, and what it does not. A registry match proves the business exists, is registered with the state, and shows the standing we found on the date we checked. It does not prove trade licensure, insurance coverage today, or quality of work. It is a floor, not a recommendation.

National fulfillment networks

If not enough partners in your area match your project, your request may also go to a national fulfillment network so your project still gets bids. We do not screen these networks or the pros they send you. Our screening covers the pros we list, and nothing else. If someone contacts you this way, ask for their state registration number and a current certificate of insurance, and look them up in your state's official records before you sign anything.

What you see, including the blanks

Every listing shows the checks we have results for, with the date of the last check where we have one. A credential we have not confirmed carries no badge at all, so nothing is quietly implied. Most directories will not tell you what they did not check. This one does.
